Jakarta Solid Diskominfotik Brings Theme of Innovative Mothers with Digital Skills

The Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) and Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), held a seminar on Jakarta Aware of Digital Literacy (Solid) with the theme Becoming an Innovative Mother with Digital Skills in the PDS HB Jasin Hall, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Menteng. Jakarta Diskominfotik Acting Head, Sigit Wijatmoko said his staff carried the theme of Becoming an Innovative Mother with Digital Skills because digital developments have opened up space for everyone to become content creators, including mothers.

"I believe they (DWP mothers) are an incredible production machine for delivering educational information . What just needs to be fine-tuned is what we need to convey on social media," he expressed.

He cited the incident went viral when Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, visited an elementary school in Cideng, Central Jakarta.

At that time, there was one of the children who intended to take home the free food distributed by the Acting Governor to give to his grandmother who was sick at home.

Responding on this matter, he had a dialogue with the child saying that he would give food to the grandmother and another for the child to eat on the spot.

This viral incident is an illustration of how things that are considered ordinary by the perpetrator can be extraordinary for others.

With this event, he was optimistic that the role of DWP women with their digital skills would be able to support the success of the Jakarta Government's development programs.

"When it comes to social media, they are actually experts. Just polish it thinly," he joked.

Jakarta DWP Chairwoman, Endang Lestari Djoko Agua Setyono, appreciated the Diskominfotik staff who gave mothers the opportunity to take part in this activity. She admitted, so far mothers do have digital skills and have been active on social media.

She assessed the challenges in the digital space are currently getting bigger, such as the rise of negative content continuing to emerge and crime in the digital space continuing to increase.

Thereby, she reminded that the insight and knowledge of DWP members as wives and companions of ASN must continue to be improved and harmonized, thus they collaborate optimally to support the success of the Jakarta Government program.

"Continue to improve your digital skills so you can create content that educates and creates peace," she concluded.

She hoped that they could improve four digital aspects, namely digital skills, digital security, digital culture and digital ethics. It was in line with the development of literacy in the current digital era.

She described that previously literacy was only known in the form of reading and writing. Along with the development of digitalization, literacy is now more widespread with the addition of the ability to understand and process.

"With this approach, we are required to be not only competent, but also wise and responsible," he asserted.

Besides being an information space, according to him, the current development of digitalization could also be used by mothers to improve family welfare.

The digital space created today will make it easier to sell products for mothers who want to market their creative results.

"Hopefully, this event can encourage sharing of initiatives in conducting concrete work, especially mothers, thus they are able to use the internet for educational and productive activities," she stated.
